Pupils at Albert Village Community Primary School Join County-Wide Environmental Action for Attenborough’s 100th Birthday

Pupils and staff at Albert Village Community Primary School are proudly taking part in BBC Leicester’s Our Planet, Our Pledge: Celebrating 100 Years of Attenborough, a special initiative marking the 100th birthday of renowned naturalist David Attenborough.

On 8th May, schools across Leicestershire will come together for a county-wide Day of Environmental Action, celebrating the legacy of Sir David Attenborough and inspiring the next generation to care for the planet. Originally aiming for 100 schools to sign the pledge, the campaign has exceeded expectations, with an incredible 150 schools now taking part.

Albert Village Community Primary School is delighted to be part of this milestone event and has also contributed as a promotional voice for the campaign on BBC Radio Leicester. Listeners are encouraged to tune in and see if they can spot the school featured on air, or listen below:

As part of their commitment to environmental action, the school is also organising a community litter pick at Albert Village Lake on 7th May at 2pm. Families and members of the local community are warmly invited to join in and help make a positive difference to the local environment.

This initiative reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and community engagement, encouraging pupils to take pride in their surroundings and play an active role in protecting the planet.
